More About Me

Since 2015, I’ve been a Senior Librarian at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center’s consumer health library. We provide resources and service to patients and caregivers, primarily, offering evidence-based information about cancer, general health and wellness, and a wide range of related topics.

My work

As one of only two librarians on staff, I do a little bit of everything: reference service, collection development, cataloging, and more. I also administer a handful of our library systems and technology tools.

Prior to joining UT MD Anderson, I was the Digital Collections Librarian in Special Collections at the University of Houston. There my main responsibility was managing the department’s digitization workflow, helping to provide access to a range of archival materials.

I have also worked as a college media director and high school teacher.

My professional service

In April 2026, I concluded my term as President of the Texas Library Association, a position that was incredibly fulfilling and educational. I have been involved in TLA for nearly 20 years, serving in a number of appointed, elected, and volunteer positions. As Past-President, in addition to serving my final year on the Executive Board, I’m chairing a Governance Task Force doing pivotal work to ensure the future of the organization is bright and strong.

I am also active in the Medical Library Association and the South Central Chapter of MLA, having served on committees and juries. I have been active in the American Library Association and other library and archives organizations, and I have published in a number of journals and presented at both state, regional, and national conferences.

My community service

I have served on the board of a non-profit day care and pre-school as both a parent and community member, and I spent three years on my local school district’s Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee. I’ve also volunteered for school events and my local teen book convention.
